8th Grade MLK Day Workshops

On Friday the 25th the 8th grade participated in a series of workshops facilitated from guests from different groups and organizations to look deeper at our house theme around justice (the details of the entire day are mentioned in a previous post which you can scroll down to view if you wish on the blog).

All of our guest facilitators were so impressed with the students and their eagerness to participate, actively listen, ask questions and give their best in each workshop. We were grateful to have each of our guests with us on our MLK Day and all of the guests left saying how grateful they were to be able to work with the students.

At the end of the day we reflected on how we as individuals can make a difference in our society and we also reflected on the "So What" or the "Take Aways" from each workshop. Homerooms put the student reflections into a "Wordle" and printed them up for kids to see and take home if they wish. Below is one Wordle created at the end of the day taking all of the students reflections on the workshops. The larger words were words that appeared more in their reflections. I also wanted to include below a video which we showed at the end of the day that spoke of the power each individual has in making a positive difference in our world.

Thanks

Rich
