On behalf of the entire 8th grade staff we hope you all have an enjoyable and restful winter vacation. If you are traveling during break we hope you have safe travels to your destinations and enjoy any events, visits, traditions, or activities that you may have planned for the vacation week. We look forward to a successful second half of the school year with your child come January. Thanks
Below are a couple of other notes for you:
1. School Supplies: At this point in the school year many of our 8th graders are low or out of the basic school supplies needed for their classes. Over vacation if able please replenish just the basic school supplies needed - mainly PENCILS with ERASERS. Many of our students are coming to class either without pencils or with pencils with no erasers. These students are losing valuable warmup activity time in classes while they look for pencils around the room for that class. Being prepared with the proper writing tools will certainly help for a successful start to January after vacation. Thanks.
2. A message from the ELA department:
Dear Families,
We are most grateful for your generosity during our Bruiser food drive for the Wayland Parmenter Food Pantry. Each of our ten English classes donated many food and household items and enjoyed a healthy competition among the classes. Although one class was the overall winner with more than 160 items donated, the children understand that the real winner is the food pantry and all the community members who benefit from the pantry’s outreach. We took two carloads filled to the roof to Parmenter on Friday afternoon. Here is a photo of one carload of non-perishables.
Thank you again for helping your children participate in this act of outreach and empathy.
Sincerely,
Meeghan Peirce and Angie Corbet
