Dear Parents and Guardians,
This Friday, during House Block, the entire 8th grade will be watching the film, "A Place at the Table." This film, produced by the organization "Teaching Tolerance," is an engaging way for us to introduce some of the themes will be talking about in TAG all year, as we explore the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., our house leader. Eight different teenagers narrate this film. Each recounts a struggle that they, or one of the their family members endured to help make their community a more just place.
After house block, we'll have some time to discuss this film in TAG groups. Here's where you can help: Deloria, one of the teens in the film says, "Telling our stories is the best way we have to keep our dream alive." Before Friday, would you consider sharing a family story about struggle? This might be a recent moment from your life about overcoming adversity or it might be a story that's been passed down through generations. We'll ask kids to share some of these stories as we process the film.
Thanks so much for your support
Melissa, Rich, Kevin & Rob
